Personal Statement
Like any other high school athlete, I started playing field hockey in middle school. As a freshman I was quite frantic, and as much as I hate to admit it, irresponsible. I never stopped trying though; it was recognized, and after a few weeks I made varsity. It was not long after that I got injured and had to watch from the sidelines, but I didn't let it get me down. It only made me want to come back stronger and more confident for my sophomore season. Not only was I dedicated to get back up in field hockey, but I also was determined to try out a new sport during the spring season. It wasn't long until the chatter of the upcoming lacrosse season grasped my attention; I borrowed a stick and some goggles and off I went! Little did I realize that I would end the season with an all conference award after just one season. It was in that moment that I realized I was an althete. An athlete to me means someone who never settles, never stops, and always has a smile on their face.
Whats unique about me is that I don't label myself as an athlete. First and foremost, I am a student. I love trying new things, which is demonstrated by; my acceptance into a selective vocal ensemble, performing in a school musical, receiving an award for my artwork in the scholastic art and writing competitions, and being part of the Spanish National Honors Society.
