Personal Statement
I started playing club field hockey in eighth grade. I fell in love with it because of the strategical aspects. I love to analyze my opponents and use the field hockey rules to my advantage. For example, if I am unable to eliminate my defender with my speed, I will use my stick skills to pull the ball into the players foot causing a foul or obstruction. Then with the defenders pause, I will either speed past them and look for a pass or immediately look for a pass. I have great field vision and am always looking for passing opportunities when I have the ball. I have great ball strength. I use my body to block out defenders and protect the ball.
I stand out because I constantly am challenging myself. This is evident in my athletic and academic life. Athletically, I condition with Corey Taylor Sports Performance two to three times a week, sometimes four. These sessions are an hour and fifteen minutes and I train with other athletes apart of the program. I push my self during every session and am motivated to become a stronger and faster field hockey player. I also push my self in my academics by taking the highest level of classes offered at my school. As a junior, I am currently taking 5 college level classes, 3 of them being Advanced Placement and 2 of them being dual credit.
My dream college will have a competitive field hockey program and challenging academics. I am really interested in pursuing a career involving business and engineering. I understand that looking to pursue a competitive collegiate field hockey career and a rigorous academic course is time consuming and difficult to keep up with. However, I am excellent at managing my time. I am currently involved in 4 clubs at my school, play club and high school field hockey, have a part- time job, and am volunteering as an assistant coach for my local grade school.
