I have been playing field hockey since I was five years old. All three of my older sisters played field hockey, which inspired me to play. I want to play field hockey in college because I can't imagine not playing. The sport means so much to me, my life has been centered around my field hockey career and I would like to be able to continue it in college. I am looking for a school that can not only challenge me on the field, but also in the classroom.
I have definitely had my ups and downs with field hockey. When I struggle during a game or practice, I use that to my advantage and continue to work harder and push myself to succeed. If I am in a game or at practice I will always give you my 110%, always trying to improve and always working my hardest. On the field, I have very good vision. I am able to pre-scan to know my next move or my next pass. I am a quick, attentive learner, I strive to learn new skills and master them during practice to be able to use them in a game.
As a freshman in the 2019 fall season, I was one of three freshmen on varsity, and I was a starter for the team. I was the leading scorer for my team with 8 goals during the season. My team got the best record that our school has ever had in the last 20 years. We went 14-4 in our season. I definitely grew as a player that season, I became much more confident on the field, and I was able to help lead my team to success. At the end of the season, my coach awarded me as 2019 Offensive Player of The Year.
In addition to playing field hockey, I am also on my school’s swim team in the winter, and I play on the school’s lacrosse team in the spring. I also do club field hockey in the winter and in the spring. I also am in the Sparkle Effect and Best Buddies which both support kids with special needs. I help out with Distress and Wellness Club, Photography Club and UNICEF. With a very busy schedule I have become organized and good with managing my time. Even if I might have classes, practice and a game all in one day, I am able to work hard and give my team my all the entire time.
