Personal Statement
My passion for field hockey began in 6th grade. I heard about the sport from an older player at my school. I signed up for different clinics at my local club and started to take a liking to the sport. I attended a very small school which did not have a field hockey program of its own. I spoke to my school principal and he allowed me to leave school early so I would have the chance to play on the Portsmouth Middle School's field hockey team. For seventh and eighth grade, I was a student at Portsmouth Middle School and continued to play on the school field hockey team. For both of these years, I was a team captain. In my role as team captain, I learned to be a leader as well as a strong teammate.
I played for Seacoast United Field Hockey Club for 5 years and have been playing for Northeast Elite Field Hockey Club for 1 year. I have been a contributor to dozens of different teams and the club has become a second family to me. Playing with so many different people of all different ages has taught me how to be a flexible and versatile player. On the field, I have played every position from sweeper to center forward. By playing so many different positions, I have developed a great understanding of the game, field positioning, and ball movement. This has grown my two best strengths, which are field vision and passing. My coachability has helped me excel under a variety of coaches and has resulted in my strong well-rounded game. I have also been a field hockey referee for U12-U14 age groups.
I strive to enjoy life on and off the field. At home, I continue to stay busy by spending time with friends, family, and school. I enjoy swimming, going to the beach, bridge jumping, skiing and spending time at the lake with my friends. I hope to graduate college with incredible new experiences, a great education, new friendships, and hopefully a field hockey championship!
