Mairead Cain '19 Recruiting Profile

As the youngest of four girls, I often felt left behind. My sisters were on their own paths: pursuing journalism, becoming a professional runner, and developing a passion for photography. It wasn’t until I started playing field hockey, however, that I realized where my own passion lay. I have always enjoyed my academic pursuits, but becoming a student-athlete added a whole new dimension to my life. I love to both compete and train: improving my finesse and my ball-handling skills are exercises I especially enjoy.

Growing up with sisters also taught me how to compromise and be a team player, so I loved the camaraderie field hockey brings. Having been one of two freshman players moved up to my school’s varsity team, it is exciting to watch our team change and grow. I have led the way in encouraging younger teammates to continue training year-round at clubs to ensure our team remains fresh throughout the year. I am particularly excited to see what our hard work brings this upcoming season!
