Personal Statement
As a junior in high school, my goals for my future are to continue to work hard and persevere through academic challenges as well as my athletic passion for field hockey. I've had to overcome academic reading obstacles, since I was young, and eventually finding out I had Dyslexia. Academically, I am looking to pursue a career in the Business field. One of my greatest strengths on the field is that I can communicate with my teammates and my agressiveness is a driving force to who I am as a goalkeeper. In the beginning of my freshman year of high school, I began playing on the Junior Varsity team. The goalie on the varsity team got injured and the varsity coach pulled me up to play the rest of the season with the varsity team. As a 9th grader, playing in that first varsity game was exhilarating but extremely nerve wracking at the same time. It definitely was the first time I ever really felt pressure on me to perform outstanding for not only the coach but the team who needed me. Throughout the game, I was nervous but as the game came to an end I realized that in order to become the best player I could be, I needed to push myself not only physically but mentally as well. As I participated in travel field hockey tournaments, I gained the confidence to play at a more sophisticated level of field hockey. As a sophomore and now a junior starting varsity field hockey goalkeeper, I played my best season to date with our team finishing in 3rd place in all of Suffolk County Long Island, NY. Moving into my senior year in the fall of 2019, my goal as a varsity athlete is to bring motivation and leadership to my high school team. My plans are to start an agility and strength training group in the summer to help myself and the other athletes prepare for the fall season and strive to get to the playoffs again.
