Personal Statement
I am the starting quarterback at Fort Payne High School. This past year, my junior year, I was the class 5A Region 8 and Dekalb County first team quarterback as a first year starter. My freshman and sophomore years I backed up our 4 year starter who eventually signed with the University of North Alabama. My sophomore year, when our starter got hurt the first half of our playoff game; I relieved him in the second quarter, and went on to win convincingly. My desire to compete and participate led me to ask our head coach, Paul Ellis, when I was a freshman if I could help the team in any way. I asked about being the placeholder for our outstanding kicker, who is being recruited by the SEC. I gained the trust of my coaches and teammates, and have been the holder since the first game as a freshman. This past year as a junior, I led the team to a 10-2 record and went to the 2nd round of the playoffs. I was unable to play the last playoff game due to an ankle fracture I suffered in the first playoff game. I am now fully recovered and anticipating spring training. I am currently 5’11”, and weigh roughly 170 pounds. I also run a 4.90 forty yard dash and a 4.21 shuttle run (5 yards-10 yards-5 yards). It would be an honor and one of my goals to play football at the collegiate level.
Location is not a factor in my decision for a college education. I would love the opportunity to get my team on a level to compete for a championship because I want to win in everything I do; from the classroom to the field. The size of a school will not affect me as I feel I can fit into any environment. I am open to play for any size, or type, of school. My education is the most important aspect as it holds the key to my future. I have yet to select an intended major though.
Finally, I want to have an impact on my team in a positive way so we can be champions. That is, to be the best I can be at what I do everyday, to be better than I was the previous day. Playing for a championship has always been a dream of mine and I will put all of my effort into whatever it takes to succeed at the level of competition I am granted to play.
