Personal Statement

Dear Coaches,

My name is Nick Smith and I am going into my Senior year of high school at Scottsdale Preparatory Academy.  I have accepted to take the challenge of this rigorous school since sixth grade.  Academics definitely attracts most of the administration's attention, so it is hard to get good athletes to come to this institution. So it is very impressive that the program that I have helped form (SPA being a new school) has had so much success.  It is difficult to manage school work and sports at SPA, but this management helps shape me for the next step.  I love learning and I love football.  Being from the dry desert of Arizona, I am willing to go to a college far away from home to play football and pursue a career with biology being my major.  Football is similar to life in that it might be painful at times, but there is something about it that you just love.  One of my coaches always tells us to "love pain" because it will always be around and if you embrace it, it can shape you into becoming a better man.  I would be a good candidate for your team because I make good decisions on and off the field, and I would give my best everyday I'm there.  I have been blessed to grow up in a nice city with good friends and family and I am very appreciative of that.  Getting an opportunity to play for your college will further add to my appreciation of my life. My collegiate goals entail me working hard everyday and one day getting the opportunity to be a starter every Saturday for your squad.  My school placed fifth in the state of Arizona in 2013 for the highest SAT scores, so I have the academic aspect to bring to your college.  I also led my team to the state championship in basketball. We lost but I still had 27 points after not playing for a month and a half with a fractured pelvis.  With that aside, football is my passion and I will strive to impress and succeed at the next level.

          -Nick Smith

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
