Personal Statement
My name is Bryan Catchings and I am a junior, starting Varsity Offensive Lineman at Oak Ridge H.S. in El Dorado Hills, California. Oak Ridge H.S. plays Division 1 football in the Sierra Foothill League, which, according to Max Preps is one of the toughest leagues in Northern California and the country. In 2016, Sports 247 evaluated and ranked me with 3 stars. In addition, CalHi Sports has recently chosen me as a First Team Offensive Lineman for the preseason All Sac-Joaquin Section Football Team.
I am currently 6’ 3” and 280lbs. This season we are 10-2 and headed into the Section Semi Final game the day after Thanksgiving.
Last year, I had 48 AXE awards for Flatback Blocks(25), Offense rushing yards of (2317), Passing yards (2848), and Game Wins. I was Player of the Week after our game against Woodcreek and Co-Player of the Week after our playoff game vs. Consumnes Oaks. Last season we went 10-2 and placed third in section playoffs.
I was a starter on offense and defense my freshman year, Team Captain and was chosen as Most Valuable Player, the first lineman to win this award for Oak Ridge.
I have a desire to win and because I play in one of the toughest leagues in California, I am always pushed to do my best and go beyond. I consider myself a leader on my team and ask that others push themselves as I do. At 16, I feel I have excelled more than most other players my age athletically and in character. I lead by example and make the choices, both on the field and off, that I would expect my teammates to make. My desire to play at the collegiate level is the part of what drives me to succeed both academically and on the field. I believe in the coaches and players who stand with me on the field and firmly consider myself as a contributor who works at a position to improve his team.
