I've always been known to be the big kid growing up. I'm much huskier and taller than my peers. Dad knew I was too big for Pop Warner Football, so he introduced me to baseball at age 6. I played for 2 years. Although baseball wasn't a sport I enjoyed, I signed up for basketball. I played basketball from the time I was 8 years old until 12 years old for Novato's Park & Rec and CYO. I also studied Mixed Martial Arts between basketball season with my older brother, Anthony. Dad wanted me to learn how to defend my self as well as master my hands and feet coordination. I trained in the studio for 3 years until I started high school. I wanted to continue playing basketball my freshman year. I tried out for my high school basketball team but was cut. By this time, our football signup had ended. I didn't get to play basketball or football.
To play football for the very first time during my sophomore year, has been rewarding. Considering I only played a total of four games due to the pandemic, my team, along with our coaches, gave our full commitment to the games. I worked with great mentors and trainers. Mom always ask me if I like football. Do I see myself playing this sport long term? Do I feel the passion for it? And my answer is, yes. I love the camaraderie the sport has to offer. I enjoy the unity of the team. My first Friday night game against San Rafael High underneath the lights, I had never experience that before, and to be part of that with my team was amazing. Whether it was a game we loss or won, we had each other throughout the experience. My first season playing football has definitely sparked interest. I know I have the ability to make it as a good competitor. My family is aware I'm willing to give football my best and I'm here to see how far I can take my journey at this point. Thank you for taking the time to read my statement.
