Personal Statement
My name is Colton Brown I live in Meeker, Colorado, my father is a coal miner, my mother works in the elementary school.I have dedicated most of my life to athletics and acedemics, during the summers I focus on working hard and improving my work ethic each and every day, which has helped me become the athlete I am today. My father has taught me the foundations of all the sports I participate in and is always there to support me, my father and I are very close, we both enjoy the outdoors and the activities while outdoors, such as hunting and fishing. My interests in school have to do with these activities and the way I was raised, so I would like to attend a college or university on the western side of the United States.. I am 6 foot 3 inches tall and weigh 180 pounds. I have competed at high levels and know what its like to be in tough competetion while attending a state basketball tournement as a starter, and competing in high jump at the state track meet. But I am not focused on basketball or track, my main focus is football. I competed in two years of football playoffs. I have been the quarterback of this team for the past two years, as well as a team leader. I feel a leader leads his team on and off the field. Setting an example on the field as well as the classroom and community. Last year I was an all-conference honorable mention athlete, as well as all conference in basketball and track. With the ending of the 2009 season our team met the future state champions in the quarter finals and lost. We finished our season 8-3. I completed this season with 1024 yards passing and 852 yards rushing. I achieved all conferencs and all state honorable mention. I have also performed well in the class room achieving Acedemic All State last year. After I graduated I attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO, where i played wide reciever. It was a great experience and I competed well, however Fort Lewis was just not the school for me. The following year I was intending on playing football somewhere else, but some family issues came and I was needed at home. I took online courses for a semester and in the spring I attended Metropolitan State College in Denver, focusing on my grades and training. After going through a full year of training I have never been in better shape and am ready to get back on the gridiron.
