Earning the starting quarterback position as a sophomore was something I'd been working for all year. I knew putting the extra work in the weight room, attending weekly quarterback training, and watching game film would pay off. What I didn't plan for however, was getting injured during my first high school varsity start as the starting quarterback. My competitiveness, determination, hard-work and positive mental attitude allowed me to push through collar bone surgery, continue to be a leader from the side-line, and eventually return to my position for the state quarter-finals. Despite losing the state championship game, it was a season that taught me multiple life lessons as well as to appreciate the time competing on the field.
Having spent almost an entire season on the sidelines has reassured me of my decision to play college football. In addition to football, I also participate in basketball and track at the varsity level and have obtained multiple all-conference letters. However, my skills set and passion are more geared towards football. I am looking for a program that is a good fit for me both academically and athletically. I feel confident that I have the skill set and mind set that will make me a valuable athlete and team member at the college level.
