news from The Gunnery - https://portal.gunnery.org/NetCommunity/sslpage.aspx?pid=470&ContentID=15611
I am a 6' 3", 205 lb. quarterback for The Gunnery's, Class of 2014 where I am a Post Graduate student. I had played for my hometown football team, Barrington High School for 4 years with the last 3 starting at the varsity level. Barrington High School is a Division I football school that competes with many private schools that recruit their players statewide. We were the 2009 Super Bowl Champions in Rhode Island my freshman year.
I just completed my first trimester at The Gunnery making high honors with a 3.6 GPA. For my college experience, I am seeking a school with a first-rate program in Business with an outstanding football program. I am an extremely dedicated athlete and a precise and accurate QB, with a quick release, strong arm and excellent fundamental skills.
I participated in the NUC Combines in 2011, making it to their Elite 100 in Oklahoma where I competed with the best of the best. Recently I received my 3rd invitation to compete again in the NUC 5 Star Combine in April. I competed in the Nike SPARQ Combine in Philadelphia last February and received a rating of 108.33, making the All-Combine Team and placing 3rd out of almost 1200 participants. I hold one of the fastest 40 times and highest SPARQ rating for all QB's that attended the Nike SPARQ Combines. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/combine/_/id/139870/jacob-simons I attended The New York City Elite 11 last year and was ranked 5th at the event by 247 Sports. http://247sports.com/Player/Jacob-Simons-18644?pi=30092 I also attended Charlotte's Nike Football Training Camp in May for an opportunity to attend "The Opening", an invitation only event. I also attended Junior Rank's invitation only Prodigy Camp in Naples. I was also nominated as one of 400 Seniors nationwide to play in the Army All American Game at the Alamodome in January 2013.
I am a team player, a leader both on the field, in the locker room and by example, and I am not afraid to work hard. I am self-motivated and thrive in a challenge or competition. I have the ability to manage my time, set goals and prioritize. I make good decisions both on and off the field and I am accountable for my actions. I am willing to work harder than any other student/athlete. I respect my coaches and my team mates. I am currently training 2-3 hours a day on strength, speed, accuracy and fundamentals. I am a student of the game.
My goal for my college years is to enjoy the complete college experience, to achieve a first class education, belong to a driven and passionate football team and to give all I have to give to lead my team to a Championship.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement and I look forward to being contacted by coaches and moving forward with this process.
