Personal Statement
I have been looking forward to going to college since I was in 7th grade. I have dyslexia but I have not let that stop me. I work very hard in school. When I was in 9th grade they put me into a read 180 class to help with my reading and when I started they tested my Lexile score and it was 14, which is a pre-reader and now in December of 2012 my Lexile is 1100, which is at a 9th grade level. I know that it is still below my grade but I worked very hard in the 2 1/2 years to go up 10 grade levels and I am still taking the class so I can go higher. I was even recognized by the school district for making such great strides. I think that you can go anything you want to if you set your mind to it. I know my sat and act scores are not that great because of my dyslexia but I make up for it in the classroom. I want to go to college to prove that with a disability you can still go. I have picked chemistry or biology to major in because I love those two subjects in high school. I love solving problems. I also like math for the same reason. I want to go to college to become successful in life.
