Derek Thompson '18 Recruiting Profile

Since age five I have been setting goals for myself, and creating action plans to help me achieve those goals. One of my goals was to play  Varsity Football as a freshman. I was able to do so with hard work and dedication. I like to think of myself as a "Hybrid" type of player. If I am given the opportunity, whether it's a hand off or pass I strongly believe that I have the ability to make something happen. I am looking for a program that will allow me to grow into the best player and student I can be. Even though I am currently not an "A" student, I still put forth all my effort into my work. My parents taught me to be confident with who I am. Yet I am very humble about my accomplishments. I also learned never to sell myself short whether its in the classroom or on the field; I like to think of the word NO as "New Opportunity". I also believe that failure is not an option but a lesson learned so that in the future you wont make the same mistakes again.
