John King '24 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing tackle football since I was 6 years old and have the goal of playing in college someday. I enjoy the friendships I have made. My closest friends are the players I have played with since I was in 1st grade. My Dad and 2 uncles both played college football so I grew up around the game. They have never pushed me to play but being around the game just made me want to play and be successful. Our teams have had a lot of success along the way but I have also learned how to compete, be dedicated to my off season work and the value of working together as a team to achieve success.  These values have carried over to my academics as I have achieved a 3.5 grade point average in Honors and AP classes.  I have also been fortunate to have great coaching over the years. My Pop Warner and Middle School head/ position Coach, Todd Fordham played 10 years as an offensive lineman in the NFL.  The  techniques he taught me were very advanced for that  level and the work ethic he demanded from me are things I will carry with me the rest of my life.  The skill I learned while playing for Coach Todd helped me be selected and start   for the FBU North Florida 8th grade National  Championship team. The team was invite and tryout  based and included the best players for Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.  We played against some of the best competition in the country and in doing so it gave me the confidence that I can play with the top talent in the country in my age group. I was a full time starter on the varsity as a sophomore and played both OLB and Tight End. I had 4 sack, 15 tackles for loss and 42 tackles as well as an interception.  At this point, I do not have a specific school that I want to attend and understand I have to work hard to have choices in the next couple of years.
