Davonte "DJ" Montgomery '18 Recruiting Profile

My name is Davonte Montgomery. I am a student athlete attending Gulliver Prep in Miami, Florida. I will be in the graduating class of 2018.  While at Gulliver I am an above average student majoring in Television Production. Laying the foundation in a Journalism career or Business Management. I am involved with two outstanding organizations. Youth On The Move and Leadership Diversity. Both are programs that are involved with the success of  youth and education regardless of your race, religion or your environment. I am the oldest of 5 children with 3 sisters and 1 brother. I must set a positive example for them, therefore I strive to be the best that I can be. I was born to a teenage mother and live in one of the roughest neighborhoods in Miami but I am determined to get out of the hood and be successful in whatever my journey has in store for me. 

At Gulliver I am on the Varsity Football team where I am a starter on the team and  Team Captain my senior year.  I play both as an Offensive player as well as Defense making me a Versatile well rounded player. Primary playing as a defensive back wherever needed also being a starting running back , quarterback, safety  and whatever needed to be a team player..I have received several awards such as the Best Back, The Iron Man And  MVP Defense. I also run track on the varsity team. Since the age of 3 football, basketball and track have been my outside interest where I excelled with various optimist programs. I'm inspired to do my best in all that I do both on the field and in the class room making my family, friends and coaches proud. As I travel this journey into the college level I look  forward to being a part of a superior institution for higher learning. I am looking forward to being part of a program that will be  a great fit for me academically as well as athletically. Gulliver has taught me that there is no I in team but a group of individuals that are a family working together as a team with loyalty, respect and leadership. I am a hidden jewel and if given the opportunity I can and will be a valuable asset to any organization.
