“Komm doch mal mit zu den Munich Cowboys” (“Why don’t you join the Munich Cowboys”), a friend’s question that would change my life. In 2020 I started playing football in Germany, first as a QB and later in the O-line. I remember my parents scratching their heads disbelievingly, when I left in the middle of the night to join my team play against opponents in distant cities, but that was what I wanted to do. I started to love all aspects of the game: The athleticism and the team aspect, where many puzzle pieces need to come together for successful plays. I also became fascinated by the strategic elements maybe exemplified best by one of my personal heroes and best linebackers of all time Luke Kuechl, who excelled because he was able to predict every single play of the opponent. I decided that I wanted to play competitive football and moved into the unknown to Georgia to competeon a much higher level for my junior year.
Thrown into the starting O- and D-lines of the Providence Christian varsity football team in Lilburn, GA, I learned important lessons in my junior year in 2022, where our team faced a 2-8 record. We harnessed these experiences to fuel a turnaround in my senior year, culminating in an 8-2 record after the regular season, making the playoffs for the first time in school history. In this season, our O-Line was part of the second highest-scoring offense in the 2A class, contributing to our RB1 securing the most rushing yards in the GHSA. Still it seems unreal that only two years ago I had put on pads and a helmet for the first time in a hard-to-find German store that offered football equipment. Given my relatively short time in serious football training, I believe that I am just at the beginning of unlocking my full potential and I am eager to improve under the guidance of college coaches. As a versatile and robust 6’5” tall player, I love the challenges presented by both offensive and defensive lines. I am injury resistant and athletic, exemplified by myself also being a starting player of our varsity soccer team that became the state runner-up in 2023.
In the last two years in Georgia, I have come to realize how much I thrive under the structured intertwinement of sports and academics in the US, which becomes apparent from my academic achievements that have tremendously improved in the US compared to Germany. For these reasons, I see myself fitting perfectly into a collegiate system that would allow me to continue to combine competitive football at a high level with the pursuit of my academic goals, which lie at the crossroads of sports, marketing and design.
