The sport that I love to play is football because of the intensity of the sport. As a male it is natural to want to compare my strengths to other males. Males have natural aggression and it is needed because males are seen as the protector of our species. Football to me has been a forum in a way for me to give expression to the natural aggression while learning to respect other males who need to do the same. As a sport football provides a powerful opportunity to give the expression to my natural athleticism. When I put my strength against the strength of other men, I learn about myself. In many respects football provides other self defining moments. Football teaches me discipline. Football promotes a powerful work ethic. Football calls for me to show leadership while at the same time demonstrating the need to understand community and team work. For me football is not just a brutal sport, it is and has been a classroom for me to learn the lessons of manhood and the lessons of humanity.
