Personal Statement

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4265770/marcus-hayes
I desire to attend a university that is best for my future, but I also want to leave a mark on the institution both academically and athletically. I have an interest in the field of anesthesiology, and I want to get as much education and experience needed for the field of study. My objectives are to pursue an MBA and doctorate. God has blessed me with great athletic ability and leadership, but college football is not just about being an athlete. College football is about being a smart player and teammate, keeping my grades honorable, and being an overall responsible person.
I love football more than any other sport, but my education is most important. I discipline myself to be committed.  I show dedication in the classroom and on the football field, and I expect nothing but the very best of myself.  I aim high, study hard and make sure my grades match my high standards. I respect authority, beginning with my parents and teachers. I am NOT a procrastinator, nor rebellious and I will fulfill my responsibilities to completion. As a leader and team player, I desire for my teammates to accelerate and succeed. I am humble, but always hungry and ready to compete. I am fearless and I will never take a play off.
I first played soccer, second basketball, but I stopped at football.  Before I understood the game, before I experienced the game, I had an innate desire to play football; I begged my parents to the point of tears to allow me to play.  Once my parents agreed, from that point on I knew that football was more than just a sport to me - it was and still is a passion. After playing for two years in elementary school and being identified as an accelerated student, I decided to place football on hold for a year so I could become acclimated to middle school.  After the first year off, I returned to football with fire and have not ceased playing since. During my high school offseason, I regularly participate in weightlifting/conditioning with my Varsity football coach present; I received the honor of being named “Most Improved Freshman” in the weight room. I started my first varsity game at quarterback as a sophomore in our second game against the St. Charles North Stars http://www.theherald-news.com/2014/09/06/plainfield-central-rallies-but-falls-short/aob9g8z/ . As of my sophomore year, I am on varsity and I have been nominated into the WALC (Wildcat Athletic Leadership Club) program from my varsity coaches. In my first varsity year I have also been a nominee for All-Conference as a sophomore and elected captain for the years to come. At the end of the season, I've averaged over 1,000 yards on the season (670 passing, 420 rushing) during the course of 8 games. To enhance my speed for this upcoming season, I took part of track for my first time ever. I ran the 100 meter, the 200 meter, and the 4 x200 on the varsity for the track season. While I did track, I also squeezed in a quarterback camp called Don Beebe's House of Speed. This sharpened of my football IQ and quarterback skills, while track helped my speed and stamina, and weightlifting increased my strength and power. I have been consistently working hard and pushing my limits to achieve greatness on the field.
I look forward to being recruited and playing football at the collegiate level.
