I am blessed with a great family and many opportunities to do the things I love. Football, along with my parents and my church family, has shaped who I am today. The game of football has brought many aspects of character into my life. There are many ups and downs in football. I have learned that the difference between a good football player and a great football player is the ability to overcome and lead in the midst of adversity. This is the beginning of leadership.
Overcoming adversity & leadership training starts by trusting my coaches and precisely following their instructions without question or doubt. My first responsibility to the team is to be a coachable player. This attitude has developed my love for the game and for my teammates.
I am passionate about my teammates and their individual success in football and in life. I have worked to learn every position on the field. I ask linemen to teach me their steps so I can have a better understanding of what they are doing up front and to help develop camaraderie and esprit de corps. I learn as many fundamentals as I can to understand which plays work best in certain situations and why. Off the field, I seek out others who seem to be struggling. I am a founding member and co-leader of the Pleasantville Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I believe in a "whole person" philosophy of life.
The second part of leadership is building a relationship with each person on the team and holding them accountable. People are briefly entertained by talent, but they will follow leadership. Whatever talent I posses is worthless if we fail to win as a team. I am committed to winning! I am dedicated to my teammates! I will hold them accountable and I will allow them to hold me accountable! We will win because we will not accept failure in any aspect of our lives!
I am having the time of my life. I am a blessed & grateful person. I am eagerly pursuing the future God has planned for me!
