As an athlete I have been given many opportunities. My God given talents has allowed me to play varsity basketball as a freshman and start as a sophomore. For track I did long jump for varsity as a freshman. My football career started in the 7th and 8th grade. I wasn't able to play quarterback like I wanted to but that gave me an opportunity to play other positions which I enjoyed and learned from. My freshmen year I earned the starting position as quarterback. We had an undefeated season. I was awarded by my teammates MVP. My sophomore year has been by far the most rewarding year for football so far. I played starting quarterback for JV and we had another undefeated season. My teammates gave me the MVP again. I am truly humbled by this award. It makes me want to work that much harder to prove that I am worthy of it. I was also given the opportunity to play on the varsity team as back-up quarterback and as a wide receiver. We won the conference and became the first state champions for the Nighthawks. It was very rewarding to be apart of this experience. I feel that at a young age I have proven that I am capable of being a team leader, showing dedication and commitment to get the results we work hard for. I value everything my coaches, teachers and parents have taught me. I am excited to see where this journey will continue to lead me.
Academics do not come as easy for me as sports do. I have made gradual improvements in each class and I am continuing to work hard to improve my grades. I've learned how important my grades are to my future. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. With that, hard work, dedication and commitment, you just have to trust the process.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement. I hope to one day work hard for you as well.
