Personal Statement
My primary goal and aspiration is to be a Division 1 kicker. What differentiates me from other kickers is that I am mentally tough, focused and an extremely hard worker. I have been playing football since 4th grade and kicking since 5th grade. I've been fortunate to have been chosen to play for select teams and also selected to kick on an all Iowa Select Team my 7th grade year. I believe my involvement in multiple sports growing up...soccer, baseball, wrestling, track and football, has actually enhanced my ability to become the reliable, competitive athlete I have become. I also feel being involved in multiple sports, has actually allowed me to stay healthy and injury free and has a lot to do with my mental and physical toughness . Another achievement I am proud of is Gold Cord, which is the highest community service honor given to those who complete over 100 hours community service during the school year. I tend to take my competiveness to the classroom as well, and began taking college prep classes as a Junior. I'll end by saying this, it's not easy being a high school kid these days. The pressures of sports, school, peers and from parents can sometimes be overwhelming. Very few athletes get a chance to compete at the Division 1 level, but I feel I've done a pretty good job of balancing those distractions and have given myself an opportunity to be an exceptional student/athlete. All I need is an opportunity for someone to take a chance. I have extreme confidence in my ability to kick at the highest level, I just need a coach to believe in me, as much as I believe in myself.
