Personal Statement
In eighth grade, I recognized my passion for football. The love of the sport made me want to further my athletic abilities. My future goals include attending college for a degree in Athletic Training and continuing to play football. I believe that academics and sports work together to create successful people. My current goals include getting bigger, faster, and stronger in the off-season; to put myself in a positive position to help my team succeed in getting us to the playoffs for a second season. After going 5-4 my freshman year, I was not satisfied with how our season went. So therefore, I made a goal for the next season to make the playoffs and possibly state. I take all the opportunities I can to gain knowledge and skills to excel at football. Many influences in my life have affected my choices and work ethics to be where I am today. The biggest influences for me was Rudy Ruettiger; hearing his life story and the obstacles he had to overcome to achieve his athletic abilities to make him thrive as a player, inspired me to focus on my dreams of playing at the college level.
I have a competitive and supportive family to encourage me to be successful in all that I do. Whether my success is in academics or sports, my family has always encouraged me to strive to be the best at what I do. Throughout my childhood, I have had many successful experiences in sports such as football, baseball, track, and wrestling. Football has been the sport that has drawn my love and passion the most. What I have learned about myself through playing football is the importance of hard work, commitment, teamwork, and trust. I believe that a good attitude and focus is what it takes to be a student-athlete, and I feel that if I apply these qualities to my academics and on the playing field I will obtain my goals that I have set forth.
