Hi, my name is James Fletcher Collins. I was the 2nd leading rusher in all six classes in the state of Kentucky this year. My stats for two seasons: rushing yards: 4,573, passing yards: 951, receiving yards: 520, PRet: 483 yards, KOR: 802 yards, touchdowns: 61, Tackles: 186. In a single game last year I rushed for 433 yards and almost 600 all purpose yards in a single game scoring 38 points. I run a 4.49 forty, squat 400 pounds, bench 230 pounds, and have a 40 inch vertical jump. I was voted Player of the Year for District 7 the past two years and received all-state honors by receiving an honorable mention as a defensive back. I was also voted MVP by my teammates and coaches the past two years. On offense I usually play halfback or slot receiver, but also played quarterback. On defense I play safety and linebacker. On special teams I returned kicks and punts, kicked extra points, kicked off, and punted for our team. I am also play varsity basketball, and run track.
I love football and I love my teammates, that's why I play now and that's why I want to play at the next level. I know having a college education is important and to be able to play football while I prepare for my future, would be great. I haven't decided what I want to study, but I like to be outside, work hard, and work with my hands. I don't think I would like a desk job. I work as often as I can to help pay my way. I have been raised on a farm and work in hay, cut grass, lay concrete, muck stalls, farm sit, landscape, garden, paint, bushhog, and build fence. I'm willing to do whatever someone needs done.
I really like to be outside. Some of the things I like to do besides football are hunting, fishing, trapping, playing pick-up basketball and whiffle ball. My 3 brothers, along with a teammate, spent the last two winters building a log cabin during snow days. It was done completely with hand tools. It even has a loft and a wood burning stove in it. In the spring I built a pond by damming up a creek and stocking it with fish we caught from the river.
I have been raised in a Christian home with Christian values. My parents taught me and my three brothers to be honest, respectful, dependable, and hardworking. The also taught us how to not only lead, but to follow so we could work well together and with others. I have that same philosophy when it comes football and my teammates. That's why I rushed for 433 yards and almost 600 all-purpose yards in one game this season...that's what my team needed me to do so that's what I did...I just play.
