Leading my team to an 8-3 record as a junior is the highlight of my football career to this day. However, the year did not start off perfectly, I was not named starter until the second game of the season and I took advantage of my opportunity and ran with it. Being named back-up was one of the most motivating moments of my life because I knew that I could become starter and lead my team, which I did. As starter, I led the team to an 8-2 record and Century’s first playoff appearance in 8 years.
Proud to be on a very successful football team, I learned skills not only valuable in football but also skills valuable in life itself. Teamwork, leadership, commitment, and the will to win are all examples of the valuable skills football has taught me. I believe that my natural skills of being an athlete and having a very strong arm, combined with my hard work ethic and never-giving-up attitude will make me an immediate impact on the college program that I attend. As an all-around quarterback and leader with a strong work ethic, I believe that I have what it takes to not only compete with the best college teams but also lead my team to victory, game in and game out.
