Personal Statement
Hello, My Name is Nick Tinkham. I have been playing football since I was 8 years old. I have been involved in football since before that, almost from the day I could run on my own. When I was younger I would run sprints with my older brother's team on the field during practices and when my parents thought I was ready to play, they signed me up. I instantly fell in love with the sport after my first practice. It was a place where I could use all my built up energy and have fun. After playing for a few years, I learned new things about myself. I learned that not only am I physically strong, I am mentally strong also. Many of the other kids would give up after a few hard hits or being yelled at by the coaches. However, I was able to get back up from the hits and learn from the yelling by the coaches. I believe being on the field for so long, I have an advantage because I was learning High school plays before even finishing Pop Warner and learning college plays before starting high school. The younger players look up to me to help them learn the plays.
Academically, my personal goals for High school and college are to graduate high school with an A-B average and do the same in college while doing all I can to be the best football player I possibly can be. Athletically, I want to be able to go to college at the highest level I possibly can, and I am willing to put in all the hard work that I need to get myself in the position to do that. I have learned a lot going through the process with my brother Chris because he is 8 years older than me and I saw how hard he had to work to achieve his goals of a full D1-AA scholarship while graduating with a degree and playing football. It takes discipline and hard work and I believe I am ready to shoot for my goals.
