During my 8th grade football season, I suffered a devastating, dislocated right ankle, breaking both my tibia and fibula. Lying on the field, thoughts of not being able to play the game I loved raced through my head. Fortunately for me, my older brother had suffered a similar injury playing soccer and had bounced back to compete in his senior season, so I knew I could do it. My goal was simple, recover as quickly as possible and then consistently work daily to get stronger. Immediately, I began my recovery by wrestling with pins and plates in my ankle. Driven, I was able to win the season ending All-Area wrestling tournament, pinning my rivaled opponent with a takedown in the last minute of the match.
Entering my freshman football season, my goal was to make the JV team. As the starting running back, middle linebacker, kicker and punter on the freshman team, I was vital to my team’s success. My determination to reach my goal finally paid off as I was promoted to JV middle linebacker near the end of the season.
In 2017, as a sophomore on Varsity, my goal was to start and make All-Conference. My coaches moved me to strong side, DE and TE on offense, both positions I had never played. Dedicated, I learned and developed my skills to become selected to the All-Conference and All-Area Varsity Football teams.
Academically, my goals are to take challenging classes, obtain a 3.5 GPA or higher, and be selected into NHS. These are all goals that I’m on pace to achieve.
Outside of school, I volunteer at the Haven House where I help cook dinner for displaced families. As an active member of Trinity Youth Group and Riverview Church, I volunteer at food banks and serve dinners during holidays.
Personal responsibility and holding myself and others accountable for achieving goals are a top priority for me and the teams I play on. My expectation and goal is to compete at the highest level of collegiate football and to excel at academics. My strengths include resiliency and versatility on the football field. I am capable and willing to play any position to help the team win. “Nasty” is the one word I hear most when others talk about me on the football field.
