Football has been an important part of shaping the person that I am. I grew up playing elite flag football in tournaments all over the country for a program called the Modern Day Knights. Something that elevated our game above other teams was the character training we embraced throughout the program. From 3rd grade through 8th grade, we were taught about Hard Work, Teamwork, Discipline, Fundamentals, and Positive Attitude. We were expected to act like Knights both on and off the field. By the time we got to middle school, our coaches could easily tell which kids played for the Modern Day Knights thanks to our character, coachability, and skills. We experienced great success over the years. One of the highlights was competing live on ESPN in the AFFL National Championship Game this past January.
I started playing tackle football as a seventh grader and led my team to a 15-0 record during my middle school career (7th and 8th grade). One of the things I’ve learned through sports is that I am a really good leader. I love playing QB because I get to be the decision maker. I love the pressure and how everyone is relying on me to make the next play. It is my honor to lead my teammates through tight games and know they trust in me. My coaches say they admire my composure out on the field. I also have a unique ability to move on from a mistake or bad play and focus on the next play.
I have always been extremely goal-oriented. I love the process and enjoy the hard work and small gains that come from working towards a goal I believe I can achieve. My short-term goal has been to start on the Varsity team this fall as a freshman. I am extremely motivated to work on strength and speed, perfect my mechanics, study offenses and defenses, and build chemistry with my coach and receivers.
One of the people who has influenced me the most is my dad. He was my coach all throughout flag football. He inspires me to be the best I can be and helps me to hold myself to a high standard. He has taught me a lot about what it means to be coachable and also how to be an honorable man. I am confident I will be able to lead both my high school and college team in character, coachability, and skill.
I live with my mom, dad, and four brothers. Outside of football, I also play baseball, basketball, and run track. In my free time I like to hunt, fish, work out, and spend time with my friends.
