Personal Statement
In my senior season I was blessed with the opportunity to be the starting quarterback on a team that ended the season 8-2. I also had the opportunity to start games at cornerback & running back and lined up at safety, full-back, and receiver. The highlight of my season was stepping in at running back in our 1st playoff game where I rushed for 207 yards and 3 touchdowns. This season I earned 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-State Academic, Team MVP, Jacob Gleason Award for Commitment and voted Captain by my teammates. My team ended the season as the runner-up in our district and awarded 4A All-State Academic Silver. Last year as a junior, I broke the school record for interceptions in a season & game as a cornerback and earned All-District HM. As a sophomore I earned a varsity letter and the JV MVP award.
Nationally, I played on Team North the National Underclassmen All-American Game as a WR in Myrtle Beach, SC, attended the Nike+ Opening in Dallas, Texas, and in December 2016, I will be representing the East Team in the Blue Grey All-American Bowl as a defensive back at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
Offensively, my team runs multiple sets including Pro, Pistol, I and Spread. The most effective running play was our read option while the most effective passing plays were play action including rolling out on a boot and power pass. I consider myself to be a strong dual-threat quarterback. On Defense, I have developed a strong reputation as a shut-down corner and assigned to cover the opposing teams top receiver. With 6 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery and 1 forced fumble in the first 6 games as a junior, teams generally did not throw my way in the final 3 games.
My coaches and teammates say that I am a strong leader & student of the game and lead the team in film study. They will tell you that I work very hard to become the best player possible by developing my skills to become faster, stronger and the most prepared athlete. As a player and teammate I am very coachable and willing to do what it takes help the team be successful. I push my teammates to challenge themselves and be the best that they can be. There is no off-season, my goal is to win!
Academically I have earned honors as a Presidential Fitness Award winner, Academic Letter winner, All-State Academic, A-Honor Roll, while maintaining a 3.6 GPA. My classes include AP Calculus, College in Schools Physics, and Health Stem which includes Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Terminology while gaining clinical experience in the Mayo Health System.
From high school I plan to attend a 4-year college where I can play football and get an outstanding education in hopes of becoming a Physical Therapist. In order to have this opportunity I will continue eating right, lifting weights, participating in speed & agility training, football camps & combines and studying to become the best football player & teammate possible. My college goals include preparing more than my opponents in order to win all rivalry games, conference titles and a national championship!
