Personal Statement

I want to achieve the highest standard possible, both during class and during sports. I strive to dedicate myself not just to my personal goals but also those of the team. I help my teammates with goals of their own and mentor younger players.  My character can be different on and off the field.  While on the field I will have fun, but I will also take the sport seriously while at practice or at games/tournaments.  While off the field I like to have fun with the great experiences I've had in academics and sports.  With academics I will make sure to stay on top with work that needs to be done. I also see academics first to everything else I do. I really enjoy learning about and utilizing statistics from the pro sports, collegiate sports, and even the local teams I play on.

  • After having to sit on the bench all season after nearly being paralyzed due to Guillan Barre Syndrome in Dec-May 2012, Alex was able to play in the final game of the tournament. With the game tied, and the other teams best batter up to hit, Alex was playing 2nd base. He caught a pop fly, which then popped out of his glove, and he quickly reacted and caught it again, forcing the out, and leading to the eventual win by his team of the city tournament. Alex went to EVERY practice, and did books and assisted coaching in EVERY game that season. (Note added by his mom).
