I am Garrett Schafer and I currently finished my senior season at Carson High School in Carson City, Nevada. We play in Division 4A soon to be Division 1, the highest level of High School competition in the state of Nevada. My Freshman team had a record of 8-1 and my Sophomore season our JV team was 8-0. I was a captain and influential leader on both of those teams. Our offensive play calling balance is approximately 60% run and 40% pass.
Some of my attributes are that I am 6'-4" 190 pounds and I am still growing. I am a traditional pocket passer with an ability to throw on the run, moving to both my left and my right. I have an abilility to read defenses and my coaches have allowed me to change the play called at the line of scrimmage based on pre-determined criteria. My coaches trust my skills and abilities and allow me to assist them in play calling.
My ultimate goal is to play quarterback at the Collegiate level. I will do what it takes, in terms of hard work and study, to play for a college team. I am open to any type of school whether it be a traditional College or University, private, Christian or Military institute. With regard to location, I would prefer schools in the western region of the United States, but I am open to the best situation for me in any part of the country.
I plan to major in and get a degree in Fire Science. I also have an interest in Criminal Justice with a specialization in investigations. I understand that the jump from High School to the Collegiate level is big, and that a starting position may not be readily available. I am willing to put in the effort, and dedication it takes to become a starter. I will always prepare myself as if I were the starter, and do whatever the coach deems necessary for me to contribute to the success of my team. I am an intelligent and hard working young man who loves playing the game of football. Any college that decides to make me part of their team will be very happy that they brought me into their program.
