I have been involved in youth sports since the age of five,. Learning to be part of a team has helped me in all aspects of my life , teaching me to be patient, supportive, to be a leader, good sportsmanship and to push beyond what I thought was possible.
One of my goals is to earn a great education so as an adult , I can work with young student athletes, sharing what I have learned, helping to guide and mentor using what I'm learning from people who coach and support me.
I have began working towards this goal by volunteering with a recreational youth track team led by a coach who has had a strong positive influence on my life. I enjoy working with younger athletes, leading by providing the best possible example, encouraging and coaching. I want them to see what hard work can accomplish I also volunteer with a recreational youth football team led by my uncle, who has had a big influence on my life. Due to my academics and football schedule I couldn't attend practices, but I went to the games to help with the chains and offer encouragement to both teams. I appreciate the opportunity to be involved on any level.
Throughout my athletic career as well as in all areas of my life, I have had the good fortune to be surrounded by excellent examples of great coachs qnd positive role models. I have also dealt with less than desirable examples and have tried to use those situations as a learning experience. Working hard and not giving up and focusing on my goals are some attributes I have gained which will help me throughout college and throughout life. Being a humble athlete is only part of the person I am becoming, but I intend to use lessons I learned in that aspect of my life to help me succeed in all areas.
