My name is Jamara Carby, I recently moved to Texas from New Jersey I am hoping to forward my career to the next level no matter what you give me even if its on the line for field goal which then ill hope to build my way up. Here is my life story .....
I'm a young male that lives in Newark NJ, but I didn't always live here. This just the begin of making sure that my family moved out of a life of harsh environment, poverty, and other obstacles. I went from wanting to be a professional cricket player to wanting to be in the NFL some day. No matter what I ended up doing i'm going to try to be the best at it.
I was born in Jamaica and grew up in a small town named St.Ann. My mom left me with my grandparents at the age of 2 to come to the United States for a better life. My grandparents took care of us the best they could. In 2011, I got to join her in the U.S. It was one of the most exciting time of my life. I remember my grandmother told me she had some great news for me. “We will be going to see your mom in a few days” Those 12 words i would never forget for the rest of my life. A few weeks pass and it was time to get on my first of many airplane rides. “Welcome to New Jersey” said the flight attendant over the loudspeakers.
My mom was the one to pick me up from the airport. This was my first time seeing her since I was 2 years old. I didn't know what to think but I definitely noticed the temperature change.Days went by we had our fun times and I thought it was the day that we had to leave, but no I was wrong my grandmother told me that I were staying with my mother. I was very pessimistic because I've been with my grandmother for 10 years and I really wasn't ready for change. But change was the first step to make sure my family will be good for life.
My first-ever class in the United States was in the six grade in a public school called 18th Avenue Elementary School. I was very quiet and found it very hard to catch up with the other students. it seemed like I knew nothing because the lesson they were doing had nothing to do with what I was doing back in Jamaica. My mom decided to take me out of a public school and put me into a charter school called Lady Liberty charter school. It was there when I met friends and started to feel like I was a part of something for the first time.I was still struggling a little but started to apprehend more and more in my classes and yes my mom was very proud of me and the decision she made. It was a long two years but it was finally time to graduate. Family members from all over can't to see this special moment. Yes I finally did it as I look down into the crowd and saw a teardrop coming from The world proudest mother face.
I have a very slow start to my freshman and sophomore year of high school. I also started playing football for the first time as a freshman. I really wasn't thinking about it being a career at first. But I Showed up to every practice because I always wanted to be the best at what I do. That same year I got captain for the football team. It was an amazing opportunity and I made the best of it. My junior year of high school I stop fooling around and my grades started to go up I started to mature more and realize how important college was going to help my career out. And the rest is history.
