Personal Statement
I am the oldest of my parents second set of twins, by 22 minutes. With the addition of a baby brother, who is now 13, my house was chaotic at times. My father, being from the Caribbean, came from a sports family who played Cricket and Soccer. My mom, from a small rural town just south of Buffalo, was a gymnast in High School. Neither were as passionate about football as I am now.
I started playing football at the age of 5. We all played despite how expensive it was to register five boys at a time for each sport. My father wanted us to be raised outside the house, like he was. Away from TV, and video games. We played football, soccer, wrestling, AAU basketball and at one point, baseball. I was very good at all 5 sports, but football became my favorite.
As a youth player, winning the national competition in Daytona Florida was most memorable. I've competed in both Las Vegas, and Daytona beach, and was voted the MVP 6 times of the 9 years I played. Those were fun times. In HS, the training intensified. I played quarterback in my second year of JV, throwing 23 TD's. I was awarded the MVP. My junior year, I continued to work harder. Now a wide receiver, I was voted the player of the game, VS Cardinal Prep or Erie Pa. It was the first time I've seen my dad smile at a game.
My dad was never the one to celebrate on the sidelines. He later explained, that he wanted me to remain humble, and he only celebrates when I received academic awards.
My academic awards mean more to me. Along with the President Award, Scholar Athlete, Science, and Math awards, I was inducted into the Jr. National Honor Society. I'm currently an honor student, and I plan on graduating a Paduan Scholar from St. Francis High School. I'm currently a three sport student athlete, and plan on playing college football, while pursuing my goal to one day become a doctor.
