Hi Coach,
My name is Dan Becker. I have started varsity for the past 2 years as a middle linebacker. This past year my team went 11-1. I had 143 total tackles, 4 forced fumbles, blocked 2 punts (one of which I returned for a touchdown), 4 sacks and an interception. I was awarded 1st team all-conference, 1st team all-district, and special mention on the Ohio state team.
I realize that with my size I may be better suited for a different position at the college level. I have played defensive end and offensive tackle in the past. I am willing to play wherever I am best suited.
I work harder in the classroom than I do on the field. I have at 2.8 GPA over the last 3 years. This number is not indicative of my academic ability. I had a difficult time my freshman year adjusting to high school and having to take a foreign language, but I have steadily improved each year. I am maintaining a 3.0 GPA this year and am ALWAYS trying to get it higher.
I believe football is preparing me for the real world. It instills team-work, determination, discipline, work ethic and leadership. I believe that these are some of the most important things in life.
I am looking for a University where I can bring hard work and leadership and make a difference to the team. I would like to find a University that can offer me the opportunity to succeed on and off the field.
