Personal Statement
Hi. I'm Cory Glover. My birthday is Oct. 16, 1993. I am currently a senior at Lakeview High School in Stoneboro, PA. This is a small school in western PA (about 30 min. from the Ohio border). There are 92 students in my class and I am 6th overall. My GPA is 3.84, and I am in the National Honor Society. I am taking high end college prep. courses this year.
I have lettered in football all four years. My freshman year I mostly played on special teams. My sophomore year I played mostly OL guard and some LB. My junior year I started at center and tackle on offense and LB on defense. This summer my coach was going to have me play running back and fullback, but our TE broke his leg and since I have been on the line before, he moved me to that spot the night before our first game. I am also starting at MLB and that is my favorite position. At 5'11" and 205lbs., I feel this is the spot for me, but as you can see, I'm very versatile. I am a senior cocaptain of my team. I attended the House of Speed in Struthers, OH last spring. I intend to go back after the football season. They clocked me at 4.75. This summer my coach clocked me at 4.72 in the 40.
Outside of football, I have been in Boy Scouts since I was in 1st grade. I just finished my Eagle project, so I should be a full Eagle Scout soon. I also go to Mercer United Methodist Church where I sing in the choir when I can. I also help out by playing the piano, playing the trumpet, or reading scripture when needed.
My plans for the future are to go to college and play football. If possible, I would like to improve enough to go on to play professionally. I haven't decided for sure which field I wish to study in college. I am considering something in engineering, or pre-med, or a combination of the two. If I would play professional ball, I would go to medical school in the off-season (as some players have done before).
A couple of my favorite players are Chris Spielman and A.J. Hawk. My mom and dad went to Ohio State when Chris Spielman was there and told me the story about how he was always told he was too small to go on to the next level. He went all the way to prove them wrong. I grew up watching A.J.Hawk play at Ohio State.
