My name is Collin Springer and I'm the Long Snapper at Newberry High School in Newberry, SC. I completed my Junior Season in 2016 with no bad snaps through ten regular season and four playoff games. As I move to my third and final year as starting long snapper, I'm training to further improve snap velocity & accuracy, and develop greater athleticism for blocking and coverage. I'm also working hard in the classroom. My current SAT score is 1090 and I'll be taking the test at least two more times to achieve a more competitive score. My GPA is 3.7 and my AP and honors classes have put me in a position to consider graduating in December 2017 and enrolling in college for the Spring Semester of 2018. I've trained and competed in seven Rubio Long Snapping Camps since March of 2016, and will attend at least six more before June of 2018. I also get private/professional instruction twice a month with a former Division IA long snapper. I'm committed to the goal of playing college football and clearly understand the self determination & discipline necessary to be a successful and dependable teammate.
I started playing football when I was seven years old. I immediately began learning the valuable lessons that this great game teaches to those lucky enough to play it; the concept of being dependable and that its ok to depend on others, the reward for preparation is success, and you are always capable of more.
As I entered high school, I wanted a role that was specialized and filled a need. I began long snapping to add to my playing time, and ultimately found that the technical aspects of the position appealed to my goals for learning a skill and contributing to my team.
With a lot of hard work, I earned a starting job as varsity long snapper for my 10th grade season ('15). At the same time, I began seeking professional instruction. As my commitment, work ethic and passion has increased, my national ranking has steadily improved. Not long ago, playing college football was a dream. Today, it's a goal that I take very seriously. I've committed myself to continue to develop the skill set needed to be a reliable collegiate long snapper. I've also made the same commitment to becoming an attractive recruit.
I have not yet decided on a major. I am leaning towards business/finance but have structured my remaining high school course work so that I can be a competitive applicant in engineering. Most of my classes are honors or advanced placement.
