My goal is to not let myself become a victim of failure. Meaning that I must reach my goal. I’m very different from about 99% of recruits and I can prove that by this next quote. I didn’t play a down of High School football. This is where most coaches will stop reading. If you’re still here, let me tell you a little about me. I’m from a small town, Erin, Tennessee. Growing up I was always the top athlete in my age group. In what sport you may ask, well football. I have many trophies, medals, plaques, etc. all in my trophy room. I started playing when I was 4 years old. Of course I played other sports such as basketball and baseball, but football was for me. Then in a snap of finger I lost focus of my dream to pursue someone else’s dream. My family was always a basketball family, except for me and my dad. My older brother played all over the place growing up. I remember how much of an impact he had on me and how cool I thought he was. He had just became the second all time leading scorer in school history and with that he had just committed to Maryville College. Following the months he would go on to sign to that college. So what did a young me want to be? I wanted to be just like that. I dropped everything, everything except for basketball. I went on to put every second into a sport that I thought I loved to make my family happy. I completely adapted to this game to make it a lifestyle instead of a hobby. I went on to be the 3rd all time leading scorer of my High School, just 64 points behind my brother, gathered 5 offers along the way. My mom was happy, my brother was happy for me, my dad was happy. The only problem was I knew months ago I missed the game I really loved. I went on to sign for Bethel University on a basketball scholarship. At my signing I had my friends, family and everyone who had supported me the past 4 years there, so happy for me. I didn’t go out with friends after my signing, or go to a party. I went to my house and sit on my bed. I thought to myself on what I did and how I will never be able to live with it. I didn’t lose hope though. A few months later I would go to Bethel and begin practices for basketball. I would watch the football team practice in the bleachers when I had time off, then I would just go to my apartment and think every night of where I could be. Eventually I said to myself I can’t live without doing something about it, maybe being here is where I can restart my dream. I contacted a few coaches of the football program, our head coach is an ex NFL player for the Buffalo Bills so I knew it’d be hard to get a hold of him, and I was right. But eventually a coach finally answered. I told him my situation and we set up a meeting, we talked and the head coach would offer me a tryout. I went on to earn myself a scholarship as a WR, my former position from many years ago. With that being said that’s where I am now. I told you I’m different from 99% of recruits. Thank you.
