Duane Akon, II '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Duane S. Akon, II.  I am a Senior WR/KR at Germantown (TN) High School.  This is my year.  I've worked hard and am continuing to work hard so that my Senior year is one to remember.   I feel as though I am very lucky to have been blessed with two loving parents that really believe in me. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a very strong support system around me.

My love for the game stems from growing up with a sports dad.  If it wasn’t football, it was basketball or baseball.  I remember the day I told my mom I wanted to play football.  She really was against it until she and my dad signed me up and took me to my first football practice at the age of 10.  After that practice, mom was fully on board.  Being on the smaller side, I’ve always been in the predicament of having to prove people wrong. Every since I started playing football, I’ve had to go out on the field and prove myself.  I’ve had to learn the value of patience, dedication, and hard work.  My plan in life is to go to a school where I can major in Biology.   As my father always says, “Every generation should live better than the previous generation.”  That is my plan in life to pay back my parents for the wonderful upbringing I have been blessed to have.  The school that gives me the best option for this, as well as continuing to build a young man of character on the football field is the school that I am interested in attending.  So opposing teams better watch out............HERE I COME.
