Personal Statement

I am 5'11" (still growing) and weigh 150 lbs. I realize that I need to gain weight. However, being a track athlete, I do not want to gain more weight til after track season is over. I run a 4.5 40 and a :48 400M. I bench 270 pounds, have a 43 inch vertical and a wingspan of 72 inches. I have great hands, can throw a ball 50-60 yards on the run and am quick. Compared to other high-school athletes, I started playing organized football late, 8th grade. However, I kept working hard on the field, in the back yard and at the summer camps I attended (Michigan and the USAFA) to become the best football player that I can be. Even though I saw little playing time my first year on the varsity, the experience on being on the varsity team, as well as a state finalist team, was awesome!!! I used that motivation during the off-season, as well as at summer football camp, to become a productive member of our high school football team my senior year. I am not a flashy player or desire individual accolades, just want to be a positive contributor to our team and to do my job to the best of my ability. I do not want to let our coaches or my teammates down. I believe my work ethic speaks for itself, as everything I have accomplished is by hard work, nothing has ever been given to me. However, the most important people I have to thank for my continued maturity as an athlete is God and my parents' support. As for where I would like to play, I have family in the Great Lakes and Southeast regions of the United States, as well as Arizona, Idaho and Texas. While not a necessity, it would be nice to have family and friends seeing me play ball. I would be lying if I said I did not want to play for a big school, because I do. However, being a humble person, I would like to go to a school that shares my beliefs, morally and religiously (military Honor code and Christian). Furthermore, I would like to attend a school that is not conceited. I would be open to attend any school, as long as they want me and give me the chance to prove my worth on the field! As for financial aid, it all depends on the school and its cost. I have completed my FAFSA application. I also have my father's GI bill if I need it. I have several majors that I am interested in: criminal science, educaton, foreign languages/literature and pyschology. Being a member of the CIA or FBI really interests me. Once again, I would be lying if I said I did not want to play right away, but I am open to being red-shirted or grey-shirted to help me become the best football player for the team!
