Personal Statement

My parents are both teachers and coaches.  And, while this profile is not about them, it is about the journey I have taken with them to the point I am at today.  Prior to starting my own career as a multi-sport athlete, I logged thousands of hours on the sidelines of dad's games (high school and middle school football, basketball, softball, and track) and from the bench of mom's games (Division I volleyball coach:  University of Oregon, UTEP, and Oral Roberts University).  I've had a bird's eye view of the daily grind to climb to the top of the rankings.  I've seen the commitment it takes in the classroom and the personal sacrifices made to be the best.  It has been impressed upon me through these experiences that being a well-rounded individual is important.  Therefore, I strive above all else to be a young man of integrity, putting to good use my strengths in academics and athletics as well as in my social circles.  I excel in my classes--taking all core courses as "honors" or "Pre-AP"--and I make no excuses in competition:  on the field (football), on the court (basketball), in the ring (shot put and discus), and on the golf course. Through my actions, I endeavor to leave a positive impression on all who cross my path.  As they say:  actions speak louder than words!
