Personal Statement
I am Daijon Prince Word, starting cornerback for Stamford High School in Stamford Connecticut. I run a 4.5, average five touchdowns per season, and on average 5 tackles per game. I am a great athlete, but I am so much more. I am a son, a brother, a team mate, a friend, and a future college student. I was born in Miami Florida. I was four months old when I held my first football, and four years old when I scored my first touchdown. That was the first best day of my life and I realized on that day, I had an unwavering love for the game of Football.
I lived in Miami Florida for the first 12 years of my life before moving to Fort Worth Texas. My parents divorced just after my second birthday, however, my dad was very active in my life. He often trained me, took me to football games, and was even the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach for my team in pop warner. He taught me the value of hard work, dedication, and persistence in achieving ones goals. A few years later, my father moved up north and I moved to Texas with my mother and my siblings. Even though my father and I were miles apart, I still held true to those values he instilled in me at such a young age. I continued my training both on and off the field yet, i felt like something was missing. A few months before my 16th birthday, I moved to Stamford Connecticut with my dad. This was the second best day of my life, and much like on the day i scored my first touchdown, i realized something else. I realized, that with the love and support of my father, along with the values I hold, my commitment to excellence and my dedication to hard work I have a solid chance of achieving my goals of not only playing football on a collegiate level, but on a professional level as well.
In the next three years, I will continue to work harder than every athlete I know. I plan to led my team to a state title and win all American. I will attend college, play football on a collegiate level, and earn my degree. I will become an example of excellence and achievement, not only to my coaches, but to my parents, siblings, team mates, and friends.
