Colten Schmid '24 Recruiting Profile

I may not have the personal attributes (Height & Weight) that catch most coaches eye but I have much more...speed, shiftiness, great hands, high sports IQ, and passion. All I need is a chance to prove my potential at the college level. I am a mult-sport athlete earning varsity letters in football, baseball, & track. In 2023 I was selected as the Football District Offensive MVP, Baseball Defensive MVP, and Regional qualifier in the 400m, 4x400 relay & 4x100 relay. I would like to pursuit careers involving math (i.e engineering, architecture, or business). It has been my life-long goal to play college football. I was born with a football in my hand and watched my favorite college teams on ESPN. My dad is a High School football coach and I have been a student of the game for as long as I can remember. I have played quarterback, wide receiver, and DB. I worked hard to learn as much as I could about each position which truly helped me on both sides of the ball.  I began to focus on wide receiver and spent many hours in the backyard, on the practice field, and at camps how to have risp cuts and create separation. One of the things I am most proud of is having my coaches say that I am the most coachable athlete they have ever coached. I enjoy watching film, trying to find weaknesses in a defense, and working closely with my quarterback to exploit every defender that might line up in front of me.
