Personal Statement

My name is Mike Gardiner and I attend Carroll Senior High School in Southlake, TX. I am the starting slot receiver and kick returner for the defending Texas Class 5A State Champion Dragon football team where I led the team in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. I was also named 1st Team All-District.

I moved to Southlake from Bedford, New Hampshire midway through my Junior year. During my Junior season at Bedford, I led the state in receiving yards and was awarded 1st Team All-State for both WR and Punt Return. As a Sophomore, I received All-State Honorable Mention as a Punt Returner. Prior to NH, as an eighth grader living in Kentucky, I was a starter on the Beechwood (KY) HS freshman team. Having had success in every program along the way, I welcomed the challenge of playing football in Texas where I've proven myself by earning starting roles at receiver and kick returner for the Carroll Dragons. At 5'9" 165 pounds I run a 4.4 40.  I am quick and have explosive cutting abilities, can turn on a dime, and have great hands.  A dedicated player, I am fearless and go 100% on every play, working harder than everyone else on the field.

I was selected to attend the 2012 Army All-American Combine in San Antonio, TX where I was measured against some of the country's best athletes.  In 2011, I attended Football University's Camp in Boston, MA and was one of approximately 1200 athletes selected from over 6000 nationwide to attend the invitation-only "Top Gun" camp in Williamsburg, VA where I was recognized as one of the Top 3 receivers representing the Class of 2013.

Anchoring the Carroll HS 4 x 100 Relay Team, we've recently qualified for the Texas State Regionals with the opportunity to represent Carroll HS at the Texas State Meet.  I have also routinely competed in the Open 100M Dash event as well as the Open 200M and 4 x 200 relay.

Despite relocating due to my family's moves, my drive and determination have allowed me to consistently establish myself as an elite athlete and have had great success at each location.

I am looking for a program at the highest level possible to share my talents while receiving a top education.

Always looking to improve, I am very coachable and bring my outgoing personality wherever I go.  I am considered to be a good teammate, always encouraging others to succeed.

I am excited to meet with coaches to discuss how we may contribute to each other's success.
