Coming from an agricultural & ranching family, I have been taught that hard work and dedication will help you succeed in life. Countless times I've been up far before the sun comes up to tend to the needs of the ranch before football practices start at 6:30am. Many times waking up in the middle of the night to assist a momma cow, in the middle of labor, trying to calve. My family has grown up working hard at everything and has succeeded most goals. The experiences and lessons I have learned from them has impacted my life greatly. I've been very blessed to have a supportive family who has helped me achieve my goals.
I love to hunt and it's always shown that the ones that are patient, can reap great reward. I show cattle in Texas at all the major stock shows, Fort Worth, San Antonio and Houston. Through FFA and the show program I have improved my speaking skills and problem solving skills. I have been fortunate enough to meet some great friends and leaders of our state through FFA. Getting up and delivering a speech or talking to the press about an event that happened in a game, I owe all my leadership and speaking ability to FFA. Like in agriculture you have to recognize a problem before you can solve it, same goes on the football field. If there's a hole in the defense you can react quickly and achieve the goal you strive for.
All of my experiences and events through FFA, ranching and agriculture, have helped shape who I am as a player and person. I strive to be the best at everything I'm involved in. I have been very blessed to have received many champion banners in my life, not only in the show ring but also on the football field, and from that my family has taught me to give back.
I hope my leadership, dedication and work ethic shows through on the football field. They say my dad has a skill of remembering great cow numbers and pedigrees from 20 years ago. He knows the breeding program and health management of a purebred cattle ranch like no one else. I have been told I have the same mental skill but it is for football. I study and watch the game of football. I can see plays that are about to transpire before they happen. I watch videos on the great quarterbacks for guidance, not only on the football field but also in life. It is my desire and goal to someday play college football on Saturdays.
