Connor Washington '12 Recruiting Profile

I am Connor Washington, and I am the quarterback for Stephenville HS, Stephenville, TX. I stand 6'2" and weigh 205 lbs at 16 years old and hope to grow a little more. I just finished my second season as the starting qb for the Jackets and led them to the state quarterfinals, before being defeated by the eventual state champs. As a sophomore, I was named 1st Team All-District QB, Academic All-District, and Honorable Mention All-State QB (TSWA), as well as Honorable Mention Pitcher (varsity baseball). As a junior, I was recently named 1st Team All-District QB and Academic All-District. Hopefully, more accolades will be released soon. I was also listed in Texas High School's Football Magazine as 1 of the top 100 Underclassmen for 2012, which included only 8 quarterbacks. I was also listed as the #28 player for 2012 in Texas on Rivals.com when the list debuted. The one honor I'm probably most excited about and proud of is the invitation to the 2011 U.S. Army National Combine to be held in January 2011. I have shown leadership skills the last couple of years as the starting quarterback of my football team. I am extremely disciplined and work very hard. I love to compete and welcome lofty expectations. Pressure is not something that bothers me, as I put a lot on myself. Earning the starting qb position in spring ball my freshman year (15 years old) and leading us to an undefeated district championship helped prepare me for pressure. I understand the pros and cons of this position. First and foremost, I am a team player and know my success is a direct result of those around me. I am intelligent and think I have a great deal of character. I have always dreamed of playing football in college and hope to see that dream come true. I am pretty open to playing ball at any division of school, as long as the academics are good. Ideally, I would like to play somewhere close to Texas, so my family would be able to commute easily. However, that is definitely something I am flexible about, as they will make it work no matter where I am. I am leaning toward engineering as a major, but I am still undecided. My ultimate goal as an athlete is to play at the highest level possible and make a difference on the team. Ideally, I would like to be able to play immediately, but I understand that I may have to wait my turn while learning a new system.
