Personal Statement
Zak Thacker
Going undefeated my freshmen year has been my best memory from playing high school football, thus far. Although, I feel like the summer after my freshmen year was when I learned the most about football. After transferring from a 3A school in Colorado to a 5A school in Utah, I learned that nothing is given to anybody with out sacrifice. I also learned the work you put in will result in team and individual success. When I arrived to the first workout with my new team, I realized how competitive I am. I always picked the group with the hardest workers and the fastest athletes so that I could compete with them. I feel that when I work against the most talented players on my team it continually makes me a better football player. I believe hard work and dedication are key to becoming a successful asset of a team.
I have been fortunate enough to have great running backs coaches at both the schools I have attended. I not only had great coaches, but some amazing linemen. Over my high school career, I have learned that by having a strong relationship with my linemen they will block better when I am in the game. I have also found when I find the right holes, they appreciate me more. If I work hard, they work hard. Over my career I have seen the benefits of being an athlete focused on and off the field. Becoming a leader focused on teamwork and commitment is very important to me. I believe that I have the talent and the work-ethic to play at the college level. Being a two-sport athlete and a two-time captain, I know that not only can I make a quick impact for your team, but I know that I can be a leader on your team. I have a desire to do better and be better each and every day.
I am looking for a program that will fit me academically as well as athletically. My goal as a student athlete is to become a physical therapist. I am driven by the study of movement and muscle enhancement. I want to provide hope and help to many people and aide them in becoming stronger and healthier in their life.
