My collegiate goal is to study Kinesiology with aspirations of becoming a Chiropractor. It is essential to me to contribute to my community and help people. During my high school football years, my Chiropractor played an important role in my mind and body and I'd like to give that back.
I am a strong candidate for this team because I have character. The first day I arrived to train for the upcoming football season, I was ready to get to work with big goals in mind. I wanted to hit the ground running. Professionals who train Seahawks and collegiate athletes surrounded me. It was a rough awakening. I wanted to work and I absolutely did. I worked so hard that, as a matter of fact, after the first couple sessions my mindset completely shifted. I knew I needed training so no coach could ever tell me no. I thought I was skilled at my craft until after an hour with my trainer. I was physically ill. I couldn’t wait to return for more. My trainer looked at me and wondered but didn’t give in to the much underdeveloped person I started as. I have never worked so hard for anything in my life and have never been pushed by a mentor and myself so far out of my comfort zone. It meant that change was inevitable. The mindset I grew accustomed to was that I will be ready; there is no way all this hard work, preparation, and time spent perfecting my craft could lead to failure. This translates into all aspects of my life. It leads into my career objectives and the intellectual challenges that I face. I will succeed.
The measure of success from my 2018 season was my coach's speech when presenting me with the Most Improved award. He stated I was smart, he didn't have to worry about what I was doing, he knew I'd get the job done, I had self drive, and I had wit. My trainer, who is now a coach at the University of Oregon, wrote me a letter of recommendation which was an incredible compliment.

Michael Keating
