Personal Statement

Hello,

My name is William Tanner, I go by Tanner.  I started playing sports at the age of five.  I was involved in football, baseball and wrestling.  With my high energy my parents said I needed year round sports.  I enjoyed being active.  When I was in the sixth grade in middle school I stopped playing baseball and joined the track team to be a thrower for shot put and discuss.  Our town has recreational football but not a middle school team so when I was in the eighth grade I was able to play on the freshman high school team.  My freshman year I again played on the freshman football team and I earned a spot on the varsity wrestling and track team.  I was so excited my sophomore year that after two junior varsity football games I was moved to the varsity team.  I again earned spots on the varsity wrestling and track team.  As a junior I will be one of the team captains for football this year.  I know that this will be an important roll for my team and myself.  I will be there for my teammates on and off the field.

Football has always been my favorite sport.  Looking back I wish I would have figured out that to be a great football player you have to be willing to give more than 100%.  After stepping on the high school field for the first time it became more clear.  It is a since of pride for yourself and your team.  At the end of a football game most find the measure of success is if your team has more points than the other team.  I like winning as much as the next guy but I think what sets me apart from others is I think what makes a winner is that when your on the football field you play your hardest and leave it all on the field.  I am learning to use this same way of thinking with other things in my life.  The way to real success is to always do your very best.  I work hard on the field and in the weight room and continue to try harder in the classroom.  I think that what will make me a great candidate for your team is I play with my heart.  I am willing to listen and learn from my coaches, and my teammates.  I learn plays quickly and I am willing to play where a coach thinks I make the best fit for the team.  I am a team player and I understand that every position on the field is important.  I will also display commitment and integrity to a team.  My goal is to find a college or university that is the best fit for me.  I want to get a good education and to be able to play college football.  I am researching a major in exercise science or exercise physiology.

Thank You for taking time to learn more about me

                                                                  Tanner
